This action encourages groups to initiate and carry out a self-defined sustainability project that improves environmental performance, culture or knowledge, either within the group or more broadly across the research community.
Projects should address aspects of sustainability not already required by other SPARKHub actions.
Examples include:
- Revising and publishing more sustainable protocols
- Evaluating or testing alternative products with lower environmental impact and sharing results
- Developing tools, guidelines or visual aids to support sustainable practices
- Running a pilot project or study to quantify environmental improvements
- Organising cross-group collaborations or training programmes
- Contributing to institutional policy development, or community engagement
- Publishing case studies, methods papers or blog posts about sustainability
