Food and drink products can come with significant environment impacts when considering thier farming or manufacturing requirements, packaging needs and transportation emissions.
While some sports testing and lab activities can require sources of food and drink, by taking into account factors such as their content or origins, you can reduce the overall environmental impact of resources needed in the lab.
Consider some of the following points;
- Is the food locally sourced and seasonal?
- Are there a vegetarian food options (unless otherwise required by the study)?
- Can you purchase batched sources of food that reduce packaging, while not ordering excessive amounts to avoid food wastage?
- Can you offer leftovers out to local staff and students to avoid wastage?
