Single pass cooling should be avoided to preserve water resources. Replace water cooled condensers with air-cooled or Vigreux condensers (air-cooled condensers work the best for solvents with boiling points >50 °C); for low-b.p. solvents, use closed-loop recirculators/thermostats. Furthermore add paddle-wheel flow meters on any recirculating loops.
