Details

Protocols in a lab should be consistently reviewed and updated to ensure they are still relevant to best modern practices. During these reviews you can take sustainability into account and asssess where they can be adapted to minimise their envrionmental impact.

Consider redesigning experiments and activities with these sustainble factors in mind;
- Reduce consumable use - for example, do gloves need to be worn for certain activities or can sample collection be optimised to remove certain single use items
- Reduced travel by participants - for example, can data be collected through real life situations rather than in the lab
- Reduce energy or other resource consumption - for example, schedule experiments back to back to minimise idle energy consumption of equipment
- Reduce redundant data - for example, can you run pilots or simulations to optimise your experiment design
