This incorporates sustainability into business-as-usual in the lab. It helps to justify the allocation of resources to improving environmental sustainability and implies the organisation considers it to be important. In some countries there are already national mandates for organisations to report on their progress towards environmental sustainability targets. For example, in England the NHS has a duty to contribute towards statutory emissions and environmental targets due to the Health and Care Act 2022. Where change management processes are updated, ensure these are shared with any other relevant organisations (such as educational departments associated with the lab). You might want to consider periodically developing an agenda for projects and activities in the lab that are particularly pertinent to environmental sustainability.
