Aside from the environmental benefits, this action aligns with guidance issued by Getting It Right First Time and NHS England. Avoiding clinically inappropriate tests, sample rejection and misinterpretation of test results is clearly in the best interests of patients. It also conserves resources for activities that are of clinical value. Feedback from clinical users should be used to inform any changes.
