Details
In the circular economy strategy, there are 10Rs that prompt ways to be more sustainbale in your practices. The first 3 are Refuse, Rethink and Reduce.
When it comes to consumables, by implementing these first 3Rs, you can reduce the materials coming into your lab which may not only save you money but reduces your overal measureable waste output.
Ensure that you use the smallest appropriate vials feasible for experiments, along with correct sizing of the subsequent consumables, while still maintaining healthy fly cultures and reliable experimental conditions.
Smaller vials can lead to a reduction in other consumables such as food nutrients, but can also impact incubator and storage space required, leading to a potential reduction in energy use.
