The Impact:
Reduce research-related travel, use of paper documentation

Details
While data monitoring is an essential part of all trials to ensure validity, trial-specific travel for the purposes of on-site monitoring contributes heavily to trial-associated emissions, particularly in multi-site trials spread over larger geographic distances, as in multi-country trials, where on-site monitoring can be frequent and often requires long-distance travel.
