Clinical trial units (CTU) have been shown to be a carbon hotspot in footprinting studies due to the energy associated with running the offices, staff travel to and from the facility, and staff travel to relevant scientific meetings and conferences. Reducing CTU-related impact through appropriate steps is therefore a key step toward mitigating the carbon emissions associated with clinical trials.
