The Impact:
Redcution of scope 3 emissions associated with procurement

Details
Sustainable procurement often plays a key role in reducing the emission impact of health research. However, many CTUs are housed within larger institutions that determine procurement policy. CTUs should ensure host institution sustainable procurement requirements are enforced.
In the absence of any, they may consider the following:
For any procurement which involves supplier assurance, manufacturers/suppliers providing materials above X-value of goods are asked to:
1. Produce carbon reduction plans
2. Link environmental sustainability plans
For any equipment purchased, suppliers are asked to:
1. Guarantee parts for a period which at minimum covers the life of the trial
2. Guarantee servicing (and calibration where relevant) for a period which at minimum covers the life of the trial (or if not, provides a recovery plan for equipment).
3. Can provide testing conditions for efficiency claims.
4. Provide appropriate warranties
