The Impact:
Reduce single use materials and associated waste output

Details
In recent years, many labs are making the switch back to reusable lab equipment where possible, in the effort to reduce the high emission emitting practice of single use items, in particular, plastics. Many studies show that the added emissions and costs of washing reusable lab wear, in the long term still equates to a lower footprint and overall cost for most labs.
Where possible, your lab may be able to make a partial or full switch to materials such as glass vials or foam bungs that can be washed and reutilised in experiments over many years. Although a costly initial output to purchase the equipment, the long term savings have been described in many places.
Always ensure experimental quality can be maintained and even partial uptake of reusbale materials can greatly reduce a labs emission footprint.
