The Impact:
Without visibility of materials used and available stock, workshops often over-purchase and rely unnecessarily on new materials. Improving material awareness and basic sourcing practices reduces avoidable procurement and supports more efficient use of resources.

Details

Workshops consider sustainability when sourcing timber, sheet materials, metals, fixings, finishing products, and consumables.

Where suitable, they prioritise donated, surplus, reclaimed, reused, or lower-impact materials, and select products that are safe and appropriate for workshop processes.

Suppliers are selected with consideration for packaging, delivery efficiency, and product suitability where possible.
