The Impact:
Without optimisation of processes and control of wastewater, print and dye workshops can generate high levels of water use, chemical discharge, and repeated processing. Inefficient systems increase environmental impact and resource demand, while unmanaged discharge can harm water systems. Optimised processes reduce water consumption, improve reliability, and minimise environmental harm.

Details
Workshops actively optimise dyeing, printing, washing, and rinsing processes to minimise water use, reduce chemical discharge, and improve process reliability. Decisions consider water consumption, fixation efficiency, repeatability, and environmental impact.
Wastewater is managed responsibly through reduction of chemical input, improved process control, and appropriate disposal practices aligned with environmental regulations. Where feasible, workshops explore improvements to wastewater management, including reduction of particulates entering drainage systems and consideration of filtration or capture approaches.
Workshops may collaborate with estates or sustainability teams to improve systems and identify opportunities to reduce environmental impact.
