Continuity is crucial to all sustainability initiatives and is the sign of a truly successful effort. This ensures that someone is nominated (and a replacement is identified if they leave) to carry forward the targets laid out in this framework. Providing recognition for the work done in this space is also key.
How?
A member of staff takes on the responsibility and makes sure to pass it on when they leave. They also provide a link between the team and the central sustainability/IT offices. Their role should be clearly signposted in relevant institutional profile pages and role descriptions. Such responsibility should also bring recognition to the staff member(s) taking it on (e.g. during promotion and appraisal).
