The Impact:
Understand what your team’s and institution's policies are for minimising and recycling e-waste from your team.

Details

There is documentation of how broken, spare, and unusable equipment (i.e. electronic waste) from the RCI team is dealt with. As much as possible, broken equipment is repaired, spare equipment is reallocated, and any electronic waste is recycled.

Why? Non-recycled e-waste is a rapidly growing issue across the world, and electronic devices piling up in dump sites – often in low income countries – are responsible for serious health consequences.

How?

List the disposing streams available from institution guidelines, as well as any more specific best-practices implemented by your team. These processes can include internal reuse, external reuse, recycling, resale through external vendors, and processing any electronic waste through take-back schemes.

📣 Ask your Central Team! If your central team has applied or is applying to Green DiSC as well, you should be able to ask them about the evidence they provided for this criterion and what relevant information is available for you to include in your application.
