Dishwashing and autoclaving consume water and energy, and require a significant amount of staff time. Groups can reduce the number of cycles run by limiting use to what is necessary and by coordinating use within and across research groups ensuring that cycles are only run when fully loaded.
Note that it is recognised that increased washing or autoclaving may permit further reuse of items, but this action focuses on the feasible reductions, but allowance much be made for increased use due to reuse.
